For me, wedding photography is about far more than creating a collection of lovely portraits. It is about telling the story of how your wedding actually felt-the excitement before the ceremony, the reactions you didn’t see, the laughter between friends and the little interactions happening while your attention was somewhere else.
My approach is relaxed, friendly and unobtrusive. I want you to spend your wedding enjoying the people around you rather than worrying about where the camera is or what you are supposed to be doing.
Your Day, Unscripted
The photographs I love most are usually the moments nobody planned. It might be your parents seeing you dressed and ready for the first time, a nervous smile before you walk down the aisle, your closest friends laughing during the reception or somebody completely losing themselves on the dance floor later that evening.
My documentary wedding photography style allows those moments to happen naturally. Couples regularly tell me that after a little while they forgot I was there. That is exactly how I want it to feel. I work quietly around your wedding, observing what is happening and anticipating the moments that will help tell the complete story of the day.
That doesn’t mean there is no direction at all. When it comes to family photographs or couple portraits, I’ll offer gentle guidance so everyone feels comfortable and everything runs smoothly. Nothing needs to feel stiff, awkward or overly staged.
The result is a wedding gallery that combines relaxed portraits with honest, spontaneous photographs full of personality.
From Your Pre-Wedding Session to the Reception
Your photography experience can begin well before the wedding itself. A pre-wedding or engagement photography session is a lovely opportunity for us to get to know each other before the ceremony. It can also help you become more comfortable in front of the camera, particularly if being photographed is not something that comes naturally to you.
By the time your wedding arrives, you already know how I work and there is one less thing to think about. On the wedding day, I can photograph the complete story - from morning preparations and arrivals through to the ceremony, drinks reception, speeches and evening celebrations. The reception is often when some of the best documentary photographs happen. Everyone has relaxed, glasses are being raised, stories are being told and people have stopped thinking about the camera entirely. Those unscripted interactions are what give your final gallery its personality.
